And it’s a wrap, our 5-day trip to New York City has ended. I personally think that 5 days is the perfect time span to explore the city – of course, if you have the chance to stay longer, you will have also time to explore unusual places or organise a day-trip to Coney Island for instance.

The most practical way to visit the main attractions is to purchase a CityPASS, that will allow you to save money, to skip the majority of the queues (since you can redeem your ticket in automatic machines through the digital pass downloadable on your phone) and to avoid any stressful online ticket purchase for each place you would like to visit. The pass includes the following admissions: Empire State Building, American Museum of Natural History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Top of the Rock Observation Deck or Guggenheim Museum, Ferry Access to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island or Circle Line Sightseeing, 9/11 Memorial & Museum or Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Here below you can find our day-by-day guide to stay organized and explore the city at its best.

Il pass include i seguenti ingressi: Empire State Building, American Museum of Natural History, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Top of the Rock Observation Deck oppure Guggenheim Museum, Ferry Access to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island oppure Circle Line Sightseeing, 9/11 Memorial & Museum oppure Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Symbol of the city, the Empire State Building fits perfectly into the urban landscape and makes New York unique in the world. Its extraordinary height (381 m) and its Art Dèco appearance have marked the history of the skyscraper architecture of the 1920s. From its terraces at the 86th and 102nd floors it is possible to see New York at 360°, listen to the noise of the city that never sleeps and be captivated by Manhattan’s atmosphere and the Central Park’s vast green.

Central Park is defined as the green lung of New York and it’s easy to see why. Inside this green oasis of 3 square kilometers in the heart of Manhattan, you almost forget you are in the metropolis, if it wasn’t for the skyscrapers that occasionally peep through the trees.

One of the best ways to see the beautiful Manhattan’s skyline is to walk along one of the many bridges that connect the island to the other neighborhoods. And it is in Dumbo where we went to admire the famous viewpoint of the Manhattan Bridge. The exact address for this unparalleled view is the following: Washington St & Water St.

Soho is a neighborhood pervaded by a vibrant atmosphere and it has so many attractions to show: cast-iron buildings, museums, art galleries and the unmistakable fire escapes. The most characteristic area of SoHo is the so-called Cast Iron District, where the main cast-iron buildings are located, many of them are finely made and interesting from a historical point of view. The best way to see these buildings is undoubtedly Greene Street, SoHo’s main thoroughfare along with Prince Street, Spring Street and West Broadway Street. SoHo is the ideal neighborhood to stroll among elegant shop windows and designer stores, but also the place to discover younger and sophisticated brands.

The Village, as the New Yorkers call it, is located in the heart of the City, in the westernmost area of Lower Manhattan. It’s nice to get lost in this residential neighborhood and admire the so-called “Brownstone”, the red sandstone terraced houses that, not less than the skyscrapers, we can consider a distinctive sign of the Big Apple.

few days in New York

The Top of the Rock in New York is the panoramic observatory at the top of the GE Building, the main skyscraper of Rockefeller Center. You can go up to the 70th floor, at a height of about 260 meters. Despite it is not as tall as the other observatories, such as the Empire and the Freedom Tower, the Top of the Rock is a very valid alternative to admire a breathtaking 360° panorama over the city of New York. It is the best spot for taking great pictures of the Empire Building or Central Park.
