If you still haven’t decided what to do this summer, don’t hesitate and leave for an Andalusia tour. We just got back from a full 17-days trip across this beautiful region and we couldn’t be more proud than this summer destination we chose.

If it is the first time traveling there, we strongly recommend to take your time and explore the area at its maximum, at least stopping by the following cities.

  • Granada
  • Ronda
  • Marbella
  • Tarifa
  • Cadiz
  • Sevilla
  • Cordoba

You can both starting from Sevilla going back until Granada, or starting from Granada until Sevilla just like we did. If you are planning to follow our same path, we suggest to land in Malaga airport and leave from Sevilla airport then.

As regarding trasportation, we used almost everything possible and it was a lot of fun! We took flights, trains, cars, buses and bikes.

Abbiamo preso voli, treni, auto, bus e biciclette.

Granada

TO SEE  //  DA VEDERE:  Alhambra

The Alhambra was so called because of its red toned walls, actually the name means “Red Castle” in Arabic. The palace, located on a point with a strategic view over the whole city, is surrounded by beautiful gardens (Jardines de los Adarves). Also, something you can easily notice is that every single space of the Alhambra is covered by decorations. You will not be able to stop taking pictures – like I did, of course!

Ronda

TO SEE  //  DA VEDERE:  Ponte Nuevo

The New Bridge (Ponte Nuevo) was built 1759 and it is nowadays one of the symbols of the town. You may see a little window at the very center of the bridge: that is a chamber that was used for various purposes, including a prison. Ponte Nuevo is 98mt high and link the two parts of the town overlooking the stunning El Tajo gorge.

TO SEE  // DA VEDERE:  Puerto Banús

Puerto Banús is located in the suburb of Marbella, just a couple of kilometers west from the town centre. The area was designed and built in 1970 by a local entrepreneur (Mr José Banús) as a luxury marina. Puerto Banús is well-known as Costa del Sol’s playground for wealthy people and celebrities, going there in the summer season to enjoy beach & golf clubs and the buzzing nightlife.

TO SEE //  DA VEDERE:  beaches & old town

Tarifa lays at the very South of Spain, actually just 14km away from Morocco, allowing you to see the African coasts. You will enjoy this place for at least two reasons: the infinite windy and wavy beaches to test yourself on surfing/kite-surfing and the tiny old town, a set of typcal white buildings.

Cadiz

andalucia cadiz

TO SEE  // DA VEDERE:  Cathedral & old town

Cadiz has kept its charming aura from VII a.C., when the Phoenicians founded it, until today. The Cathedral construction took over a century and this amount of time influenced its architecture – baroque and neoclassical. Take your time to walk around the town’s promenade and of course go to the beach!

TO SEE //  DA VEDERE:  Real Alcazar & Parque Maria Luisa

This historical royal palace comes from 1300, it is one of the best examples of mudéjar architecture – a style born in the Christian Spain that was influenced by islamic design. I personally suggest to lose yourself in the flowered garden during the visit.
